How to get there?
You can go to OUVEA by boat or plane. You take about 40min by plane and 5h by boat.
When we went there, we stayed in the paradise of OUVEA. The spot is grandiose, located right next to the MOULI bridge and the Lékiny cliffs. But hey, you really don't have to go there! You have bungalow-type accommodation nearby, it's located in the middle of the island. Otherwise, you can go camping there or stay with a tribe. You will find all the plans on this site .
How many days?
In terms of time, if you really want to do everything, I recommend 4 days, it's really if you want to do everything.
What to do where to stay?
For our part, we did the southern pleiades. It's a boat trip of about 4 hours in the south of the island. You will do 2 PMT, one where you will certainly see mantas then a second. Then, a small taste is offered to you and return. The price is 8000 francs per adult.
The Northern Pleiades (our favourite!!!). it's a day trip (departure 8am, return around 5pm). You go to visit the northern islets; First stop for a PMT. For our part that day, there was a lot of swell so it was difficult to see things; Then, second PMT at the level of a drop-off. And there, WAHOUUU, a multitude of manta rays, fish sharks! We end up stopping on a lost island, there, we are offered the meal (during the boat trip, they catch the fish themselves.) then we stay to chat, bathe, take a nap until the end of the day. daytime. Great experience and very nice people who will tell you a lot of things! The price is 10,000 francs; You will find all the info here.
Then we did the must-see spots on the island.
I absolutely advise you to come at sunset to the Mouli bridge to observe the ballet of rays, turtles, etc. It's incredible!
I invite you to read my article on this subject by clicking on the article above.
The first year for me was complicated. But in the end you get used to it and then when you go back to France for the holidays, you fill up and you realize how lucky you are to live in Caledonia!
Life is on average 50% more expensive than in France.
